Spaceman Si The slow-burning power of each track is on a grand scale, and enhanced by the classical Greek rebetiko influences that make their presence felt subtly. Combined with the impassioned vocals, the whole has a brooding dark majesty. Favorite track: Odalisque.

lovepsy fantastic doomgaze stright out of the viberating greece sence. Favorite track: (A story about) Preparation.

Kirk Gauthier If you’ve ever wondered what it might sound like of Siouxsie Sioux fronted a doomgaze band (I mean, who hasn’t?), then I couldn’t possibly recommend listening to “Odalisque” more. Both heavy and ethereal with a doomy, gothic flair that makes the hairs in your arms stand up. Definitely a strong contender for Album of the Year. Favorite track: Raindrops.

Tom's Reviews Greece has some of the best music in the world right now, and Church of the Sea is yet another example of that. The music almost reminds me of Trees of Eternity, and Irene has incredible vocal talents, which also lends to the Trees of Eternity vibe. This is beautiful music in every way. Favorite track: No One Deserves.

Sink your finger in the water Move in circles round and round Keep your head above the surface Yell and shout ad you go down Silence will help before the clouds Turn grey and autumn comes Try to listen without speaking Open your eyes and see what’s next
2.
Odalisque 05:21
I wish I could turn back time To use my wings, erase my crimes To fly around, regain my pride Pretend I’m dead to run or fight Then million roses would fall on my head Like a strange dream that I can not comprehend White light would come down to earth Touching my skin, my heart, catching my breath How I wish I had more time and spend my life on what matters If only I would have been more wise and didn’t taste the forbidden apple
3.
Mirrors 03:42
Mirror of the wall How did I become so small? Touch the glass, spell my name Try so hard to remain the same Sleep baby sleep Your father tends the sheep Your mother shakes the dreamland tree Sleep baby sleep Secrets everywhere How did I end up so scared? Look at me, speak the truth Why am I so confused
4.
Raindrops 04:04
Tiny dancers outside my window A hundred raindrops falling up Traveling in different directions Taking turns they move for a while Purple skies lurk in the dark Close your eyes and see the sparks Night is humming Full of light Open that door and dive inside Flocks of birds swirling together Flashing their bright white under parts Revealing waves creating patterns Telling stories of the past
5.
How about spending the night together Walking along these silent street How about pretending Judas and Jesus Sharing secrets, lies and a big kiss And our faces will change shape And our moves will be like signs We will find out in the middle of April We no longer have to run or hide When the stars all rise in the east Then it’ll be our chance Along alone road, full of tricks Preparing for deliverance
6.
Come and pray down by the river Pray for rain to come in the spring Move around and dance in circles Letting the time go with the wind Do wild flowers grow around here? Are trees still alive? Do the mountains tell you secrets? Letting the birds sing Touch the ground, feel the water Hear the sound of rustling leaves Ocean waves are coming closer Moving slowly, they wash your skin

about

Church of the Sea Athens, Greece

Church of the Sea were formed in 2017 in Athens, Greece, when three individuals came together to create a distinct sound, balancing between doom and dark electronic rock. They embrace fuzzed sounds, heavy distorted beats and ethereal, chant‐like vocals.
The result is a unique atmosphere where doom’s heaviness meets the dreamlike state of shoegaze and the shrieks of noise‐rock.
